Top car championship events

There are quite a few motor racing events each year which each attract a different set of motoring enthusiasts and each have specific racing tracks and rules. The FIA WTCC is quite easily of the most watched car racing events the packed motor sports schedule. First held in 1987, the WTCC series is held all around the world including locations like Macau, Japan, Morocco and Spain. Other popular auto racing events include the Indy 500 the Gumball Rally and the FIA European Touring Car Championship. The Intercontinental Le Mans Series and the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series are also extremely popular motor racing events.

Also called motor racing, car racing is simply the racing of cars for sport and is easily one of the best sports in the entire world. It's believed auto racing began almost as soon as the first gasoline-powered vehicle was invented and it's thought the very first car race in the world was organised French magazine Le Petit Journal in 1894. The first car race track started in Paris and ended in Rouen and attracted top motor manufacturers like Peugeot and De Dion as well as various private automobile owners. Although auto racing continued to progress over the years, it wasn't until the 1930s that automobiles were built with racing solely in mind, with exceptional performance vehicles from key manufacturers like Auto Union and Bugatti completely changing the outlook of motor sports forever.

F1 motor racing is undoubtedly one of the most enthralling motor sports around to watch. The sport's origins come from post World War Two and culminated in rules being drawn up, resulting in the first Formula One race taking lace in 1950. While Grand Prix races have been staged across the globe, there is always one certainty - the motor racing cars and the firms investing in them. The landmark motor car companies are Ferrari, McLaren and Williams whilst more recently Red Bull and Jordan have raced successfully. The spectators are always interested in the drivers, from the audacious racing of Nelson Piquet through to the genius of Ayrton Senna.
